My name is Chelsea (she/her), and I am a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience. I am trained in trauma-informed art therapy, eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT). I have worked with adolescents in an alternative high school, and spent a decade working at an inpatient psychiatric hospital with adults facing various mental health challenges.
My mission is to provide a comforting and empowering space, one that helps you discover your authentic voice and assists you in fully embracing your creative self. I believe all humans possess an innate ability to express themselves creatively, and in this creative process, we can dive into unconscious parts of the brain where words don’t exist or aren’t enough. I look to incorporate art, talk, and mindfulness into sessions, and I operate with a client-centered framework.
I believe therapy to be a deeply collaborative process that focuses on you and your needs. In that collaboration, I offer compassion, connection, curiosity, and empathy as you explore your strengths and struggles. Together we will travel through your life story and reestablish a sense of wellbeing.
I specialize in working with adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma-based disorders, women’s issues, and life transitions.
MY STORY
I have been an artist my entire life. I followed my inner artist to college where I earned a degree in fine art. Then, I got a bit lost, wondering, “What do I do with a degree in fine art?” When I learned about art therapy, it felt like I was struck by lightning. I was thrilled to learn that there is a way for art to help and heal people, and with my interest piqued, I enrolled in graduate school to earn a Master’s degree in Art Therapy. Now, I keep my artist-self alive and well by creating art regularly in my free time, and I believe that enables me to better connect with and nurture your artist-self.
