Lauren Rivers

LAUREN RIVERS, MS, LPC

My name is Lauren (she/her), and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD, and as an ADHD coach for adolescents and adults.

I enjoy supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, interpersonal conflict, and low self-esteem.

As an experienced ADHD coach, I specialize in empowering individuals across various life stages to navigate the unique challenges of ADHD. My services cater to high schoolers faced with studying challenges or preparing for college admissions, undergraduate and graduate students, young adults entering the workforce, and older adults, especially women, who are navigating a "later in life" diagnosis.

As an ADHD coach, I focus on the following: time management, values-based strategies, stigma and shame reduction, study skills, transition support, career exploration, assignment completion, accountability skills, and challenging procrastination.

I am currently working toward my Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, researching play and play therapy, imagination, and the development of executive functioning skills in children.

MY STORY

I have always loved learning about the brain and the many different ways our behavior is impacted. I enjoyed my psychology classes all throughout high school and college and decided to carry that curiosity to graduate school. I went on to receive my master’s in clinical mental health counseling at Johns Hopkins University, where I gained experience in group and individual therapy.

Now, I am excited to continue my education as a doctoral student, and I enjoy seeking out continuing education opportunities as they relate to the field of counseling.
