Phoebe Missios

Phoebe Missios, MA : Resident in Counseling

My name is Phoebe (she/her) and I am a Resident in Counseling trained in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Sand Tray Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work with individuals across the lifespan, specializing in young children, pre-teens, and adolescents.

As a clinician, I strive to meet people where they are and tailor treatment to their individual needs. This includes utilizing talk therapy, play therapy, and creative expression as means to process and heal from the inside out.

I aim to foster feelings of connectedness and safety in the therapeutic space for all my clients, bringing a warm and compassionate energy. I believe that with insight comes intentionality, and with intentionality can come change. I am dedicated to supporting my clients as they explore and build insights around their experiences, strengths, needs, and values to live a life that feels integrated with their whole self.

I specialize in working with children, teens, and young adults who are working through anxiety, depression, identity discernment, relational issues, low self-esteem, trauma based disorders, behavioral concerns, and disordered eating. Additionally, I am particularly passionate about offering parent coaching to strengthen attachment and support the overall family system for my young clients.

MY STORY

I have always found joy in getting to know people, forming interpersonal connections, and being a supportive presence. From a young age, I was drawn to becoming a therapist but was also passionate about working with children. After years of teaching dance to young ones, the pandemic revealed the profound impact on the children I worked with, giving me the push I needed to pursue my Master’s degree and transition into the mental health field.

During my program, I discovered that processing feelings extends beyond talking—it can also involve art, movement, and play. This realization has allowed me to blend my passions, working with individuals across the lifespan in ways that are most meaningful and helpful to each person.
