Melody Sargent is 9 years old and a 4th grader at Oak View Elementary who has been making art for as long as she can remember. She finds joy, calm, and creativity in the process of making art and views it as a way to express her emotions and explore her imagination.

“Art helps me get my madness out when I am sad, mad, or embarrassed. I love making art because it makes me happy and calm and gives me something to do. When I make art, I feel happy. Sometimes it makes me feel frustrated when I mess up or make mistakes. But I paint over it and keep trying because mistakes are not mistakes in art, they help you. They help you get better at art because mistakes grow your brain. I am never done with my art. I can always keep adding to my art, and that makes me happy!” - Melody

Remy Sargent is 7 years old and a 2nd grader at Oak View Elementary School. through his art, he captures the joy and calm he feels while creating and takes pride in the beauty of his finished work.
