Start with Art
The idea for this group started with a question: what might be different if I started my day with a little creativity and beauty?
Join us for a 5-week experiment to answer that question!
Start With Art is a free, virtual group on Wednesday mornings from 8:00-9:00am. You can come for the whole hour or just drop in for a few minutes. Bring your own art project--anything from a coloring book to crochet to watercolor. The only guideline is that it needs to be an art or craft project you enjoy. Bring your coffee, bring your bedhead, wear your pajamas if you like, just come and start your day with a little creative time and a brief centering exercise.
Who: Adults curious about exploring creativity in a supportive, nonjudgmental space
When: Wednesday, weekly from 8:00am - 9:00am beginning May 13th
Cost: FREE
Where: Zoom
ABOUT GROUP LEADER, MINDY VAN WART : RESIDENT IN COUNSELING & PROVISIONAL ART THERAPIST
Hi there, I’m Mindy, a Resident in Counseling and Provisional Art Therapist trained in trauma-informed art therapy, IFS, CBT, and sand tray therapy. My work is also shaped by person-centered, existential, and mindfulness-based approaches. I believe art opens powerful pathways for self-awareness and authentic healing by engaging both the mind and body.
My own journey with art deepened through personal growth workshops and retreats, where I experienced firsthand how creative expression can unlock insight, connection, and transformation. That experience continues to inform how I hold space for others.
I have a special interest in supporting individuals navigating grief and loss, anxiety, codependency, religious trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. It is truly an honor to offer a supportive space where you can feel seen, validated, and gently encouraged in your growth.
